The official first day of the 2026/27 school year is expected to be approved by the Board of Directors by Spring of 2026.

Required Forms

If Purchasing

If you own or are purchasing a home, the District requires all of the following:

Mortgage Statement, Deed, Settlement Agreement with signatures or property tax bill
A utility bill, Driver's license with updated address, or Vehicle Registration Card
Child's Birth Certificate
Child's Immunization Records
Completed Physical and Dental Exam if first time entering school
Any applicable Court Order/Custody Agreements

If Renting

If you rent or plan on renting, the District requires all of the following:

A lease agreement with landlord signatures that includes the child(ren) listed as occupants
A utility bill, Driver's license with updated address, or Vehicle Registration Card
Child's Birth Certificate
Child's Immunization Records
Completed Physical and Dental Exam if first time entering school
Any applicable Court Order/Custody Agreements

If Living with Someone Else

If you are living with someone else, the District requires all of the following:

A completed and notarized Multiple Occupancy Affidavit signed by the property owner/tax payer and parent/guardian, including proof of home ownership or lease agreement from the property owner/tax payer in which the family is residing at.
A completed Residency Verification Form
Proof of Residency from the parent or legal guardian such as a Driver's license or utility bill showing the homeowner/tax payer's address.
Child's Birth Certificate
Child's Immunization Records
Completed Physical and Dental Exam if first time entering school
Any applicable Court Order/Custody Agreements

What happens at Kindergarten Registration?

During kindergarten registration, you and your child will come to the school building for approximately 20-30 minutes. You will have the opportunity to speak with the principal, school nurse, secretary, and other school personnel. Your child will have the opportunity to complete activities and interact with teachers. This occurs in April based on the time you choose when registering.

What happens at Kindergarten Orientation?

Kindergarten Orientation is the first day of school and a parent/family member will accompany their child to school. This is about a two-hour session with your child in either the AM or PM (a time slot will be shared with you from your child’s principal).

Kindergarteners do NOT ride the bus on the first day and should be transported by the parent/family member at their orientation time.

When should physical and dental exam forms be completed?

If your child has had a dental or physical exam anytime after 9/1/2024, you can have the forms completed and take them along to your registration appointment this spring.

If families do not yet have the dental or physical exam and form completed, it can be completed and returned to your child's school nurse at the beginning of the school year, or at any time it is completed.

What is Proof of Residency and why is it required?

Proof of Residency is information required that shows proof that the child resides in the Central York School District. It includes a Mortgage/Settlement Agreement or Property Tax Bill for families that own a home, a Lease Agreement with the Landlord's Signature and all names including children listed, or an Affidavit of Multiple Occupancy if living with someone else in the District.

Where will my child attend Kindergarten?

Three of our seven schools serve Kindergarten. Depending on where you live in the District, your child will attend one of these schools:

Hayshire Elementary School
Roundtown Elementary School
Stony Brook Elementary School

Registration Steps

Step 1: Create a Skyward Account or Update Your Existing Account

Skyward is our Student Information System. As part of the registration process, you will create your Skyward Account. If you already have a student in the District, you will update your existing Skyward Account. This is where you will upload your documentation.

Skyward stores information that includes attendance history, grades, school reports, personal family information (address, phone, email, emergency contacts), and health information. Skyward is also used as a communications tool for teachers and administrators to send messages to families. You will find Skyward is one of our most common methods of communication with parents and guardians. Learn more about Skyward.

Enroll/Create a Skyward Account (Feb 2)

Step 2: Complete Enrollment Application and Upload Required Documents to Skyward

Once you have access to your Skyward Account, you will be able to upload all required documents for student registration. Those include two proofs of residency, in addition to the child's birth certificate and immunization record. Physical and Dental paperwork can be turned in at anytime before the start of the school year.

As always, if you run into any issues uploading your documents, you may drop them off at the Educational Service Center located at 775 Marion Road, York, PA 17406. This is where our Central Registration Department is located. Check out our office hours here.

Step 3: Schedule a Registration Appointment

Step 4: Attend Your Scheduled Registration Meeting

You will receive a confirmation email of your registration appointment this spring via email. Parents are required to take their future Kindergartner along to this meeting to meet staff, see their school, and ask any questions!

During your Kindergarten Registration appointment you and your child will come to the school building for approximately 30 minutes. You will have the opportunity to speak with the principal, school nurse, secretary, and other school personnel.

The Kindergarten Experience

Our Central York Elementary Schools offer a nurturing and interactive educational program for all students. The child-centered experience emphasizes the development of a love for learning with academic skills, as well as social and emotional development.

Our Kindergarten students will explore core academics in areas such as math, social studies, science, reading, and writing, as well as music, art, library, and physical education specials. Our school Counselors also play a role in our educational program with focuses on creating a positive learning environment, peaceful problem-solving skills, and more.

Central York School District is proud to implement a One to One Program that provides a learning device to support our student learning and engagement at every grade level. Your Kindergartner will have access to their own iPad while at school.

At the beginning of the school year, Kindergartners will receive their school t-shirts. They proudly display our elementary school character development program models of Hayshire P.O.W.E.R, Roundtown P.R.O.U.D., or Stony Brook R.O.A.R.
