Copyright Free Images

Needan image for a project? Unless you've taken the picture yourself, youare borrowing someone else's work. The links below are copyright freeimage sites. That means the owner of the image has given permission forhis/her work to be used by others. Isn't that cool?

Justbecause an image is copyright free, doesn't mean you can just use it.Make sure you give credit to the owner of the image by citing thewebsite and/or giving attribution. Your teacher will help you learn howto do this correctly.

Animal Photos: A collection of copyright free animal photos listed by animal type. Click on the animal you are looking for and then browse the image choices available.
Creative Commons Search: Search a number of other sites for copyright-free images. Most are free to use with attribution.
Morgue File: It's not what it sounds like! This is where awesome photos go to be shared. Search for your topic...There are some beautiful images that photographers have shared here for free.
NASA on the Commons Photo Stream: Sets of copyright free photos shared by NASA. Use the numbers at the bottom to flip through pages, using the search box will simply do a Flickr image search.
NOAA Photo Library: Great for ocean pictures and more! The NOAA collection includes thousands of weather and space images, hundreds of images of our shores and coastal seas, and thousands of marine species images ranging from the great whales to the most minute plankton.
Photo Pin: Free photos for bloggers and creatives. Search millions of Creative Commons photos from Flickr and add them to your blog posts easily. (Doesn't always work as well on the iPad)
Pics 4 Learning: A great site with photos taken and shared especially for teachers and classroom use. A safe site to find photos for students.
Pixabay: You can freely use any image from this website in digital and printed format, for personal and commercial use, without attribution requirement to the original author.
Wikimedia Commons: A great site to find photos of places and famous people (past and present) as well as animals and nature. Find a little bit of everything here.
